I've ticked off a few films from my "List of films I've never seen" note in my phone. The most recent was Glengarry Glen Ross. A very good character-driven film, the scene with Alec Baldwin (the only bit of the film I'd ever seen before) is rightfully memorable and so is the scene with Al Pacino chewing out Ed Harris about halfway through. Jack Lemmon is fantastic and even though I don't care about awards or award ceremonies, it's staggering that he wasn't nominated for any major awards.
On the famous scene with Alec Baldwin, what makes it so great is not only how quotable and admittedly vicarious it is but also how ineffective and worthless his actual speech is; he doesn't give them any advice on how to sell better, how to work smarter with bad leads, nothing he says or does is constructive, helpful or informative at all. It's not motivating, the staff don't learn anything new and aren't given any new tools at all. Despite all his bluster, it boils down to "the bottom two of you are sacked" and that's it. It makes the frustrations of the main four all the more relateable.

The Last of Us - Very Good
Ok I know it's not a movie. But what's the difference anymore really?
This show is really well done, heavy, and is quite good at hitting you with interesting moral questions. It makes you think, it makes you uneasy, and it brings a brutal, almost not-believably brutal, lens to post-apocalyptic zombieland. It has tender moments, and a lot of punishing ones.
My only complaint is that it doesn't give any kind of ending or payoff for season 2, which is as far as they've gotten. I believe that they can land this plane (I haven't watched the video game cinematics so I don't know what's coming). But they refused to land it for season 2 and that is a mark against them in my book. Find a place to stop the season please.
